If he didn't, this comic would be full of Cadmus constantly bitching about how much of a pain it is to have wings.
Seriously. Those things are cumbersome as fuck.
Also, him having a pocket dimension for weapon storage/wing out-of-the-wayness gives me the best excuse ever to not have to draw aforementioned pain-in-the-ass wings every time he's in a panel.
